43rd Annual Pioneer Days Festival
Saturday, April 27th   9 AM – 5 PM
Sunday, April 28th  10 AM – 4 PM

crowwd shotWe hold the Annual Pioneer Days Festival on the fourth weekend of April every year.  It is located in the historic downtown district of High Springs with the central attractions being located in or near James Paul Park.

This is an ideal family event that has something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

The festival features vendors selling handmade crafts, clothing, furniture and other goods; artists selling their wonderful creations; merchandisers selling unique and often locally produced items.

At the gazebo located in the sinkhole, we have old timey and folk music presented by various local and national artiststhroughout the day for both days. And at other stages or areas we have various entertainments presented by local school groups and local studios for dance and gymnastics.  And we have various Barbershop Quartets, Sweet Adeline Quartets and gospel groups strolling the festival and presenting their delightful songs.

A special highlight of the festival each year is the Heritage Village where skilled artisans demonstrate skills and crafts from the pioneer period of our history.  We also have demonstrations of Indian Dance Circles and other features of the Indian crafts and culture.

Inside the Historic Elementary School Building and Community Center there are many features including the Railroad Museum and a wealth of artifacts from the pioneer period.

Little girl petting goatAnd of course the children look forward to our Kids Korral where there are many rides and other entertainments presented especially for their enjoyment.

Included are a pony ride and a petting zoo along with bounce houses, and features for the older children as well.

There are also multiple contests throughout the weekend with prizes being awarded to proud participants.  There is a special Pioneer Spirit contest for the local businesses to enjoy. And there are costume contests and a pie baking contest.

Hungry anyone? Visit our food court where there is always plenty of that great Festival Food available for everyone’s indulgence and enjoyment.

The most anticipated feature of the festival are the Historical Re-enactments. The good guys prevail over the bad guys and the cowboys spend time in between performances talking to the children and giving counsel on gun safety.

A day spent at the Annual Pioneer Days Festival is a day full of fun for everyone.
